An Artistic Lunch date with my pals @ Popsy Modern

Before heading to this place for lunch, me and my pals were invited to their grand opening party a wee while ago , it was really packed so we didn’t get a chance to try out their food, but their drinks were pretty good, and no doubt it is pretty cozy, and here we are do grab some lunch on a weekday.
About 8-10 minutes walk from the Hong Kong Station IFC exit, it is about 2mins away from Lin Heung Chinese restaurant, although it will be closer to exit shang wan, personally I would prefer to walk from HK station.

They do semi buffet style lunch menu, but we are having a la carte menu instead. Bread basket were made in house, not a huge fan of bread but went so well with the butter!

They served soup in pot, we had the 36 hours crated lobster Bisque, there were lobster meat, parsley breadcrumb , sauteed mushrooms, asparagus and crispy purple potatoes. The soup was hot, and they didn’t add starch in the soup so the texture wasn’t thick but still the soup was very rich in flavour. The meat were tender and all those add ons bring in a hint of aroma and different textures, worth to try for sure!

Before we have our mains we were offered a carb dish – Scallops on ink. The scallops were panfried with french seaweed crumbs, the texture of the scallop was nice, we all it half cooked in chinese ,just like those soft boiled eggs, the meat were still juicy and tender. french seaweed crumbs were something new too me, the taste was mild and went so well with the scallop. The squid ink tagliatelle was a bit tough then al dente, for me I was happy with that, the pasta was a little chewy , with the tneder scallop texture, a pretty good contrast. I am a huge fan of kale chips so no doubt I liked them, the parmesan foam for me is relatively light on flavour, but definitely eye catching on presentations.

The next dish- main course! We were offered to choose between the fish (Pan seared grouper) and Coffee Gravy Lamb Chop. People know I am a meat dinasour so I picked the coffee gravy lamb chop for sure!. The lamb chop were cooked in perfect texture! It was served with pistachio eggplant tempura, egg plant puree and mediterranean couscous, first of all I never like couscous but I managed to finish the whole thing. The egg plant puree and egg plant tempura were nicely done ,a good portion for main and after eating the Scallops on ink I could still manage to finish the whole dish!

Finally its dessert time, with their signature Earl Grey Disco! Loving the earl grey cake surprise with the vanilla bean sauce, not a huge fan of that rum infused cherry but the rest all went so well together. We ended this lunch date with this desent dessert.

I am not gonna give any comment to this place with value for money or other similar comments, for me dining in this outlet is about good food, good vibe and nice presentation, making it a very joyful and fun experience, yet there could still be some hiccups but it is a decent venue with presentable food (very artistic too), would love to come over sometime for dinner, and see what it will end up with.
